It was announced today that the upcoming Pitt/Notre Dame game on September 24th would be carried on national television on ABC at noon.
The Sept. 24 Pitt-Notre Dame game at Heinz Field will kick off at noon and be nationally televised by ABC, the Big East Conference has announced.
The game will air locally on WTAE-TV, Channel 4.
The 2011 encounter will mark the 67th game between the Panthers and Irish in a series that dates back to 1909. In the most recent meeting, Notre Dame defeated Pitt, 23-17, last year in South Bend.
First-year Pitt coach Todd Graham is not unfamiliar with the Irish. One of Graham's signature wins as a head coach occurred last season when his Tulsa team defeated host Notre Dame, 28-27. ESPN's Kirk Herbstreit called it the biggest upset of the 2010 college football season and honored Graham with a "Herbie Award."
It was also announced today that former Pitt TE Dorin Dickerson was signed to the Pittsburgh Steelers' practice squad.
The former West Allegheny H.S. and Pitt star has reportedly signed on with the Steelers practice squad.
Two weeks ago, Dickerson was released by the Houston Texans, who drafted him in the 7th round of the 2010 NFL Draft.
