With literally hours before players are eligible (and for the most expected) to sign their National Letter of Intent, Pitt picked up a pair of new commitments in the last 48 hours. The first was local product Javonte Pitts, cousin of former Panthers commit Lafayette Pitts and fellow teammate of Maryland commit Quinton Jefferson and Ohio State commit Ejuan Price. Like his cousin, Pitts is projected to be a defensive back at 5'10" and 175 lbs. Pitt was his only offer according to Rivals and Scout, which rank him as a 2-star and "not ranked," respectively. According to Zeise, he's likely prep school bound, which certainly begs what happened in the last few days to take him from no offers to play collegiate anywhere to a BCS caliber offer. Zeise is reporting that Layfayette is now reconsidering Pitt again and it seems as if that could begin a chain reaction that ends up keeping Ejuan Price at home for college (h/t PittBlather). That should make for a very interesting day tomorrow....
The other commitment is Ohio linebacker Nick Grigsby. A 4-star guy according Rivals and a 3-star man on Scout, Grigsby seems to be the first high-level recruit of the Todd Graham era. Grigsby fielded offers from Missouri, Kansas, Colorado, Syracuse, Cincinnati, Louisville and Kentucky among others. Conspicuously absent from that list is Ohio State, or any Big 10 offers for that matter. The 6'1", 210 senior could come in and play right away due mainly to his speed. Highlights are below.
Look! Blitzing!!!
