UPDATE:
Smizek is now officially calling it.
Another turn in the story that will never end.
Bloggin' Bob Smizek is reporting (again) that
Pitt and 93.7 The Fan are close to an agreement to move Pitt radio rights from Clear Channel's 94.7 to the all sports station. After first reporting that it was almost a done deal, it was then reported that a snag arose when The Fan made it known that they weren't particularly interested in broadcasting women's basketball games. According to Smikez, this was not actually the case and now an agreement was reached where women's games will be on WJAS 1320 AM.
Regardless, kudos to AD Pederson and Chancellor Nordenberg for not leaving the women's team high and dry. This move should ensure some major coverage on Pittsburgh's only FM sports talk station and improve the pre- and post-game shows, which were split between stations on FM and AM.
48 days until Utah.
